Bad for Employees

Costly monthly union dues:  $50 to $100 per month for most unions
Bad employees are protected by union rules at the expense of good employees
ALL employees are controlled by the union contract whether a member or not
Union stewards control your relationship with managers
Strikers stop getting paid but the bills keep coming

Bad for Employers

Restricts employers’ ability to reward good performance
Increased administration and litigation costs in the face of reduced funding
Reduces flexibility to make changes and save jobs
Unions won’t face realities: look at Detroit!

Bad for North Carolina

Hurts our ability to grow and keep good jobs
Leads to tax increases due to increased costs of administration and waste
Raise the number of public employees in a state with the second highest ratio
Limits the Governor’s and Legislature’s ability to implement innovative policy
Would require new departments to administer and litigate contracts
Heavy campaign funding puts pressure on politicians to “deliver” on union demands
States where laws prohibit strikes still have strikes, they are just illegal
